Gosh, it's been eons since I posted. A lot has changed, including the seasons.
It's amazing how fast time goes by...
and how, right before our eyes...
all that was old is new again (except me.... I'm still the same-- I don't know why that 'old is new again' stuff doesn't work on people)
The color and lushness is all around us~
All we have to do is look and listen to know how things are changing every minute, how nothing in nature is static, not even us. When we least expect it, we realize we are in a different place, a different mindset, a different season.
Take a lesson courtesy of "Bunny" here (yes, he's obviously a cat, but what you don't see is that he has a bobbed tail and looks sort of like a bunny-- okay, well whatever)
Don't get so focused and busy that you lose time-- your time--in the process of 'living.'
Far greater minds than mine (and Bunny's) have realized that no matter how similar it looks, we'll never have this time back again. There will be more blackberries to pick, more lawns to mow, and more wisteria to swoon over.
But just as the seasons change, so will we. And we'll see and experience things differently the 'next time.'
Pictures are compelling, but nothing beats opening the door, going outside and observing. Why show us a photo of EARTH from outerspace, when we can see it, smell it and touch it.... far better than a photo could ever be.
But there too 'lies the rub.' For some reason, we are of the misbelief that we are singular; as a race, as a nation, as a man or woman. We don't give a lot of thought to collective impact, to the bigger picture, to the sum of all parts. It's in this way that EARTH needs--- begs--- for OUR help.
The following is what I wrote about EARTH DAY in 2010. I feel the same, and can't really think of how to say it any better, so here is that post again.
You and I are not alone, we can make a difference, and our actions do add up.
"Maybe we should call Earth Day, Mother's Day, instead. Where would we all be without her? This gorgeous, wonderous mass of hills and valleys, oceans and deserts, tundras and savannahs... And where will we be if we don't change our habits, just one at a time, until we allow 'her' to be all 'she' can be...... all 'she' should be."
There's something so exciting about gathering a group of cohesive, beautiful items and getting them ready to present!
I'm adding a lot of wonderful pieces, some fresh from France (!!!), some handmade and one of a kind, and some with that 'laissez les bon temps rouler' spirit that we LOVE about New Orleans and this time of year!
