Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. As you can see, the Easter Bunny was quite kind to me...chocolate hides beneath the three packs of Peeps, which are all pre-pierced to allow that fabulous drying out. Happy! Happy! MMMmmmmmmmmmmm! Thank you Birdie, I mean Easter Bunny! (Title for this blog supplied by High Desert Diva; you're so clever, Charmaine!)
I have been thinking about all of you...the wonderful people I have been fortunate to meet through this 'blog world', and counting my blessings. I don't do that much; count my blessings. Sometimes I forget to what extent I am truly 'smiled upon.' I probably need to think about that more.
Some of you live in parts of the country where it is still snowy and cold. Some of you are already enjoying the warmth of the sun. Here where we are, it is sunny today and will most likely rain tomorrow. A typical Oregon (Willamette Valley) Easter...which is why I am your 'go-to gal' to find chocolate marshmallow eggs hiding indoors! Our little Easter egg hunts always seemed to get rained out. But it never mattered. It was about family, and being together and.... PEEPS!!! (I like mine best in July, when they are crispy and dry).
Happy Easter, and I hope that Spring brings you, not only the sun and the new blossoms, but the promise of good things to count on ahead!
I have to apologize for my pictures of the incredible box of goodies I received from my Vintage Indie Spring Swap partner. I think in my excitement to capture it all, I went too quickly and as you can see, didn't get a good shot of this. What you can't see here is the great detail that my Secret Pal went to. She had each package wrapped in two types of coordinating paper that was beautiful! Then, each package was tied with it's own coordinating ribbon. It was almost too pretty to open, but of course I did.....
Again, what rough pictures I have to show, and I am so sorry! Here you can at least see that my friend went to a lot of effort to include just the right items. She gifted me with several wonderful pieces of tatting and lacey wonderment! There was a delightful clock face (ooooh! I LOVE old clock faces....how would she have known that?!) and beautiful bottles; one clear with a cork and the gorgeous cobalt blue that you see hiding just the other side of--YES! A picture of WISTERIA!!! My daughter would tell you that when I took the picture out of the glassine envelope that it was in, I began to cry! To think someone would go to such efforts to find that picture really touched me. Now, my Secret Friend....did you imagine this little gesture of kindness could mean so much to me?
And finally a picture that is at least somewhat lighter, still not a decent quality to reflect all the time and consideration my Secret Pal put into selecting things for our swap. Can you see the darling little pair of domed florals in the picture above? There was beautiful silk ribbon wound around the blue card that you see in this picture. And wonderful images of a "Bridge in Harlem" and pen and ink imagery of pines. I absolutely LOVE everything, and can't tell you how exciting it was to open each little package... And the picture of the wisteria; what more can I say, except "Thank You! Thank You!" to my Secret Friend!!! (And I hope that YOUR secret pal in the swap treats you as nicely as mine!)
It's hard to believe it's the middle of March already, and that means it's time for the first sale at Flourishes! Click on the picture above to get a better view of the schedule, and then see Aleta's blog The Silly Bear for beautiful "sneak peeks" of just some of the treasures awaiting your arrival....
The little papier mache chicks are each in their own brown paper nest. The bunny pins, created using an antique French chocolate mold, are gently rubbed to give that aged and 'worn with love' patina. Each is presented on a card perfect for your bunny's basket!
Vintage ephemera is used to create the butterflies adorned with beautifully custom-mixed glitter that will age and have a warm glow, but will not darken like some of the glass glitters. Everything is on it's way to Flourishes...Are you?!
