What's everyone staring at? This IS my daytime crown!
Marie has been upset all day. No cake, no cookies; locked in a jar with nothing to look at except pearls. No way to treat the Queen! She is however the first in what will ultimately be a mini line of sorts, of "captures" which will include birds, a Cajun Mambo, a circus, and anything else I feel like making. This picture shows Marie in an unfinished state, however you will be able to view her in all her finished glory in the next blog installment.
Staying with all things French, in homage to their love of all things papier, I love the make-do quality of the crimped paper used in their elaborate--almost baroque--frames. So I have made paper embellishments which will adorn frames and assemblages.
And the last of the photos for the day is a wreath of hundred year old sheet music, adorned with various ephemera of both French and Early American origin. In the center, there will be turn-of-the-century French newsprint with perhaps a beautiful bird engraving. Haven't decided for sure...
I'm hearing "My guillotine will work, my guillotine will work..." in my head, so I think it's time to go. I will have all the new things you have seen as well as lots of other pieces at Serendipity, here in Salem, so stop by when you have a chance or feel free to email me if you have questions.
Serendipity is located at 890 Saginaw Street S., and their phone is (503) 362-3341 and you can visit their blog by clicking on their site listed in my places to visit column.
If you want to see larger views of these or any of the other pictures on my blog, just click on the image (like the photo gallery) and the photo will enlarge to show details you may not notice in the smaller pictures. I am still learning the Typepad blog system, and stubbling my way through it. So, as I am more able to navigate and negotiate and wade around the blog world, I will do my best to refine the blog and create the look and feel I am really after. Not quite there yet, but my daughter has been an invaluable help to me and I couldn't imagine doing any of this without her . Thank you Birdie! (Refer to picture of chick with red pipecleaners photo from last blog entry....)
I love your Marie Antoinette in the jar, better in the jar than in the jail ...

She's lovely, and lonely perhaps....

We could arrange to put someone in the jar to keep her company. Volunteering? I hear you speak a little Francais.
